<image:title>Our Blog - Mental Health From A Teen Perspective - Hi - I’m Ruqayyah, the high school intern here at Our House Therapy!</image:title>
<image:caption>I’m 18 years old and a senior at Bennett Day School. I found Our House through the internship program at my school. I’ve been passionate about mental health awareness since a young age. I’ve lived in Logan Square my whole life, so Our House being a community organization based in Logan Square emphasized my feelings of it being the right place for me. I wrote this blog post because being a teenager is hard. It comes with positives, negatives, and even some extreme plot twists. It is not recognized to the extent that it feels to us and sometimes, having a professional to help you maneuver through the teenage years can be very useful. I’m so grateful to have been able to dip my toes in the field of psychology and had a lot of fun writing this blog. I hope this helped you gain a little insight into finding resources that could be helpful to your mental health journey.</image:caption>

<image:title>Our Approach</image:title>
<image:caption>Traditional therapy often takes place in a bubble, removed from the rest of a person’s daily life and self. At Our House, we think differently — we’re a little outside the box, with a forward-thinking approach to the interplay of a person’s mental health, their individual relationships, and their community.</image:caption>

<image:title>Our Approach</image:title>
<image:caption>Therapy looks a little different at Our House. We talk, play, and create a sense of home together. Sometimes therapy happens with the whole family in the room. Sometimes it happens in the living area or over the phone. It can be quiet, providing space to pause and reflect, then loud and full of life as we use art supplies and instruments to help you and your kids express themselves.</image:caption>

<image:title>Collaborative family therapy - Beginning: When a family comes into our care.</image:title>
<image:caption>The intake is our chance to get to know you and your family. This intake will help us to determine the most helpful combination of individual and family therapy support. This involves meetings with all the members of your family. Our intake can last anywhere from one week to a month. Once this has been completed, we’ll recommend services that we think will be helpful to you. Therapists will be assigned to particular individuals and to the family as a whole.</image:caption>

<image:title>Collaborative family therapy - Middle: Ongoing Continuity of Treatment.</image:title>
<image:caption>The work begins! Our House therapists provide needed mental health services within a system of care that values prevention, supports cohesiveness, and recognizes that healing is never linear. What this means is that we know ups and downs are a part of life. The goal of our work is to build resiliency and help your family feel prepared and supported in facing challenges.</image:caption>

<image:title>Collaborative family therapy - Growth and Maintenance: A Different Approach to Endings.</image:title>
<image:caption>When a family and therapeutic team determine that less treatment is required, the Our House community will continue to be available for your family as needed. If a crisis emerges we can provide stabilization services, re-engage in therapy, or simply provide a space to get your bearings again before facing new challenges. Some of our clients return monthly or even once a year to feel connected and grounded in the healing work they have done. We are a home base and we know that relationships don’t ever really end. Even if we say goodbye, connections continue on inside of us, shaping who we are and how we grow.</image:caption>
